Soil moisture analysis is useful for tracking the rainfall distribution. Soil moisture inversion through remote sensing data is dependent on the measurement of the emission and reflection of electromagnetic energy by the soil surface; the emission and reflection are determined by the kind of land cover, surface roughness, soil texture, soil moisture, and so on. At present, there are several means of surface soil moisture monitoring according to the spectrum range: microwave, thermal band, shortwave band, and red–infrared band.
