GIS and T professionals can be hired for a wide range of different job positions, for which the precise skills, competences and qualifications needed will vary. Typical examples of GIS and T positions are GIS&T project managers, technicians, system developers and analyst. The recognition and certification of the competences people have acquired in informal and non-formal learning contexts is important to know which skills and competences individuals have and whether they meet the qualifications required for a certain job position.
