Calibration

Specific type of parameterization in which we try to find a set of values for important parameters. It is not the same as parameterization which is just the selection of values for a model's parameters.

Introduction

Model calibration serves the following purposes:

  • force the model to match empirical data
  • estimate the value of parameters that cannot be evaluated (measured) directly
  • to test the model's structural realism: can we calibrate it to match the observations within a reasonable range?

How to

It is recommended to calibrate each sub-model separately.
