Data quality standards are guiding principles and operational guidelines for the production and use of data. For example, QA4EO aims for the two key principles of accessibility / availability and suitability / reliability. The QA4EO guidelines provide instructions for the implementation of processes that follow these principles. Standards emerge from standardization processes within the community. They are based on the agreement of the members of the community.
