An unmanned aircraft system (UAS) includes an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), an aircraft without a human pilot on board, a ground-based controller, and a system of communications between the two. The system includes a full range of size classes from very small hand-launched drones to the large high-altitude observational systems.
