  • [CV4-10] Visualization of uncertainty
Conveying uncertainty information is often done through visualization. Uncertainty is often defined, quantified, and expressed using models specific to individual application domains. In visualization however, we are limited in the number of visual channels (3D position, color, texture, opacity, etc.) available for representing the data. Thus, when moving from quantified uncertainty to visualized uncertainty, we often simplify the uncertainty to make it fit into the available visual representations. (After Potter et al., 2012). The seven challenges as formulated by MacEachren et Al. (2005) are still there to be tackled.
