eal-time cartography applies rule-based, standardized cartographic visualization methods in real-time using real-time data, originating from various sources. Such methods valorize the potentially vast amount of real-time data by methods which facilitate their integral, interactive and individual use in time-critical situations. Vast amounts of real-time data require dynamic data modelling and data access methods. Cartographic work steps, such as data collection, storage, processing, visualization and archiving, have to be accomplished in a fully automated way. Real-time maps show spatial, temporal, attributive properties of a current situation with a focus and the temporal dimension and are, practically, presented online on the Web.
