Illustrate the main forms of radiation-matter interaction

Concepts

  • [PP1-2] Radiation - Matter interaction
Radiation can be absorbed, scattered, emitted and transmitted by the matter depending on the different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum and the matter peculiarities (Atoms, molecules, particles and surfaces) and its physical state (Temperature, Concentration, Shape, Roughness). The results of the interaction between radiation and matter depends strongly on the wavelength of radiation and on specific properties of the matter.
