The OGC is the worldwide leading consortium of GIS industries promoting the interoperability of geographic information across platform, system, and country borders. The main field of current activity is the complete integration of the sources of geographic information based on the Internet.The Open GIS Consortium (OGC) plays an important role on the implementation level.
