Change detection techniques

Introduction

Over the years, several categories of change detection techniques have been devel-oped. These techniques will be discussed in the related concepts, focusing on whether they can be used for detection, identiﬁcation, area and/or spatio-temporal patterns of change. The deﬁnition and description of categories is mainly based on Lu et al. (2004).
