A border is a term referring to an often linear herbaceous planted area. It is part of a garden and is grown for the colorful display of flowers during spring, summer and fall.
It is not so easy to plant a really interesting border. There are several elements that you need to take into consideration when planning and planting your border, including:
- Types of plants fitting for the conditions of your garden
- Colors, as colors in borders need to match to create an interesting experience
- Height, most likely you want taller plants in the back and smaller plants in front
- Viewing angle
- The time of the year in which your border will flower, including possible winter interests.
