Change detection is susceptible to the problem that changes in the observation system can be confused with the actual changes in the target objects themselves. Once again, in this case radiative transfer and observation modelling, adapted to the sensors at hand, may help to separate apparent changes from true changes. Here, true changes are changes in the object properties, while apparent changes are only related to changes in the observation conditions.
