Pattern

Introduction

Pattern refers to the spatial arrangement of objects and implies the characteristic repetition of certain forms or relationships. Pattern can be described by terms such as concentric, radial and checkerboard. Some land uses have specific and characteristic patterns when observed from the air or space. Different types of irrigation may spring to mind, or different types of housing on an urban fringe. Other typical examples include hydrological systems (a river and its tributaries) and patterns related to erosion.
